David G. Marshall to Receive AJC Community Leadership Award


AJC's2014 Community Leadership Award will be presented to David G. Marshall in recognition of a lifetime achievement in real estate, philanthropy, and community leadership. David will accept the award at a dinner at the Rittenhouse Hotel on Wednesday, March 26th


David is the Chairman and CEO of Amerimar Realty Company, a national real estate investment and development company based in Philadelphia. He developed and operated the Rittenhouse Hotel and Condominiums until March 2012. From 1976 to 1987, he was President of several Bass Brothers Enterprises real estate companies.


David is known and respected for his community involvement and philanthropy. He is Chairman of the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation and a Board Member of the Center City District. He is a Director and on the Executive Committee of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, and was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kimmel Center as well as on the Board of Trustees of The Curtis Institute of Music. In the past, David was Chairman of the Board of Directors, on the Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Investment Committee of Fox Chase Cancer Center, and after merging Fox Chase into Temple University Health System, he is now on that Board. He was the PENJERDEL Council’s Citizen of the Year in 2007. 


David is also a prominent leader in the Jewish community. He was a Trustee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, was a Director of the Joint Distribution Committee, and Chairman of the Property Reclamation Committee for Eastern Europe. He was also the International Chairman of the General Assembly 2003 of the United Jewish Communities. 


David is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He is a Director and founding member of Wharton’s Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center and was a Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board Member.
